Governor McAuliffe showed nothing if not boldness yesterday when he stood up and promised that workforce development would be his number 1 priority for the Pittsylvania/Danville area at a rally in Danville. What is so audacious about that?
Backtrack to 2009. Terry McAuliffe (then-Chairman of GreenTech Automotive after being clobbered in the gubernatorial primary) was scheduled to tour sites for an automotive plant that the Virginia government (under Gov. Kaine) had helped find and connect him with in Martinsville and Danville. The administration and McAuliffe's company had been discussing the plant for some time and hopes were high that then-just-Mr. McAuliffe would be able to bring his 1,500 jobs there, the most economically hard-hit areas of the Commonwealth.
There was only one rub; the EB-5 visa program, a money funnel near and dear to Terry's heart [read: wallet]. The program allows foreign nationals to buy their visas in return for investments in American businesses (three guesses as to which business). When officials expressed concerns, Terry legitimately stood us up. GreenTech cancelled the day before and announced their new plant in Mississippi to investors.
If workforce development is your priority, if "we are all in this together", if you are a savvy businessman who cares about Virginia, then why does every single solitary shred of evidence build further the case against that? You have the cheek to come to a place that you snubbed, to tell people that you betrayed, that you want to bring them jobs? The Governor was given a golden opportunity to bring jobs here, and he sold us out for a tax break.

Here's The Obamas' "Fair Share"
If Warren Buffet's secretary was annoyed at paying a higher tax rate than her boss before, she may well have an aneurysm about the President today. Obama's crusade against tax loopholes and for the "wealthy to pay their share" has taken an interesting turn as we come to find out that his effective tax rate is near the poverty level, despite living in the most famous address in the world.
At 18.4%, after an election that centered on fiery criticism for Mitt Romney paying "less than his fair share", Barack Obama's tax rate is a shameful reminder of his hypocrisy. Hope and change are taking a back seat to tax breaks, people, and no one is surprised.
This was a central point in his campaign to smear Romney for paying exactly what the tax code called for; an illogical attack strategy at best, but now completely moot thanks to the public knowledge that Obama, like Romney, looks for ways to pay the least in taxes.
In fact, the American people spoke in the recent Washington Post poll that they agree with paying the least possible in taxes. 85% agreed that they would do whatever they could to pay the lowest tax rate possible. So after slamming Mitt Romney again and again, the public and President Obama now agree with him.
So we come to find out that all of that rhetoric last year was simply lip service to Obama's rabid base? Not shocking. We find that Obama, while slamming others, ends up paying a tax rate reserved for incomes below the poverty line? Just one more example of Saint Barack skirting around his own message to get by.

Elizabeth Warren's Full Wallet and Empty Speech
Candidate Elizabeth Warren played warm-up for former-President Bill Clinton last night at the DNC. The Massachusetts senatorial hopeful took the stage to an enthusiastic crowd chant reminiscent of a day-time talk show. Her campaign against incumbent Senator Scott Brown has been heavy-hitting on wealthy Americans.
Warren used much of her speech to rail against Wall Street and Mitt Romney; not an unpredictable move, but what the heck. She spoke with fire and verve about stock brokers "Strutting around like we should thank them." and about the idiocy of "risky [Wall St.] bets". She spoke of her closeness with the middle class, and her down home roots.
That may be what she said, but the facts shine a different light on Ms. Warren. The salary from her cushy Harvard job totals $700,000. Though she rails against Wall Street, Warren has a portfolio that totals $8 million. Never mind that she is on the record as saying members of Congress shouldn't own stock.
She must really sympathize with middle class working Americans from the $5 million
house that she lives in.
Elizabeth thinks that the wealthy should pay more taxes, huh? Then why did she not choose the Massachusetts higher tax rate this year for people in her (not so middle class) tax bracket?
Ms. Warren, when you are given the choice to pay more taxes, after publicly and loudly and often railing against millionaires just like you, why not do it?
Last night, Warren ended her speech with the phrase "We are all called to act". Does that not include her?
