Much criticism came from the House Democrats who complained to NO END about how every proposed amendment by the House Appropriations Committee was the wrong way to balance the budget and make up the $4.2 Billion deficit our Commonwealth currently faces.
What puzzles me the most is how certain members of the Minority Caucus voiced concerns about not being included in the budget debate .... yet when the budget bill was on the House floor and being debated .... NOT ONE member spoke up and proposed other cuts be made OR a new tax or revenue generator to make up the budget difference....
It is a shame that so much today's budget debate was focused on political grandstanding, opposed to actually working in a constructive manner and making suggestions to better this great state of Virginia.....
I think Appropriations Chairman Lacey Putney said it best when he quoted former Delegate Vince Callahan ... "There is no such thing as a perfect budget. In good times, we don’t spend enough; in bad times, we cut the wrong programs."
It would just be nice for the House Democrats to offer solutions instead on throwing partisan political grenades ...
