Is Moran trying to skirt alternative energy?

Former Delegate and current Gubernatorial candidate, Brian Moran is against coal energy. Why, you ask? Moran believes that a proposed coal plant in Surry County will cause global warming and harm the Chesapeake Bay. Now, it doesn't take a genius to realize that coal is a natural resource that has not been linked to any environmental harm. In fact, it is a clean burning alternative fuel source.

According to The Washington Post, Moran is using this to woo the environmentalists into his camp. However, this might cause Moran to lose a few votes in Southwest Virginia, where the coal industry is the major employer.

Coal is good, Brian, and it does not cause global warming like your good friend, Al Gore presumes.

Governor Kaine Using Wife to do Dirty Work!!

What don't the Democrats understand about the NO FUNDRAISING DURING GENERAL ASSEMBLY law??

Even after much discussion since session began about the numerous fundraising events during GA Session that the Democrats attend ... Governor Kaine and his counterparts are at it again...

It seems as though there will be a "Statewide Meeting" on January 26th and will be sponsored by First Lady Anne Holton ... Also in attendance will be "distinguished invited guests". The GOVERNOR'S FUNDRAISING RECEPTION will wrap up at the GOVERNOR's Mansion.... My what a perfect opportunity this will be to get SPECIAL access to top Democratic officials...

I wonder how many lobbyists have already signed up to be granted this special access to voting officials just before Crossover?????

While Virginia is in a Budget Crisis, there is still $1 Million to Ferry People to Obama's Inauguration

If there's a will, there's a way! While Virginia is the worst budget crisis in state history, there is somehow enough money to ferry people to celebrate Barack Obama's inauguration. According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Virginia is spending $1 Million dollars to ferry people into the nation's capital to celebrate a page in America's history. Meanwhile, Virginia is experiencing high unemployment rates, transportation problems, and the possibility of tax increases.

So, why is the state shelling out $1 million dollars to ferry people to Obama's Inauguration? Why don't we ask Tim Kaine? I am certain that Kaine just wanted to help his friend break the record for the most to attend his swearing-in as Commander-in-Chief.

This still doesn't explain why we are spending $1 million dollars that we don't have in the budget. It's wasteful at its best.

Saslaw to Taxpayers: "Better get back to work, we need your hard earned dollars in our pockets"

Funny, isn't it? When Democrats claim that they are working to make life better for families, they go and take more tax dollars away from these families to fund their own pay raises. If you don't believe it, then you should ask Senate Majority Leader Dick Saslaw (D-Fairfax). He loves money, in fact, you can't give him enough money. If you ask him, he would like for the Senators in Virginia to receive a pay raise...now. With Virginia in a budget crisis, he would rather raise your taxes to FUND his pay raise, rather than scale it back (along with the per diem amounts) to assist in a common sense solution to address the crisis at large.

In the January 12 edition of the Virginian-Pilot, the House Republicans called Saslaw out on his proposal for a pay increase. The House Republicans realize that it is essential to cut back on their own budgets than to pass it along in a tax increase for taxpayers across Virginia. Saslaw said:

The $18,000 salary paid to state senators hasn't increased since 1988, according to Saslaw.

"It's now worth about $8,000 or $9,000," he said of the legislative salary Monday morning.

He accused House Republicans of "grandstanding" to score political points.

"We're fully capable of running our own business," Saslaw added, noting the House savings will have little effect on achieving the estimated $2.9 billion in spending cuts needed to offset a revenue chasm in the budget.

With all due respect, Mr. Saslaw, this is not political grandstanding. Rather, you are standing in the way of Virginia's prosperity by standing for a pay increase.

Allowing No Excuse Absentee Voting = More Voter Fraud in the Future

Governor Tim Kaine (and the chosen one to lead the DNC) is pushing for legislation that would allow people to vote absentee without an excuse. According to the Richmond Times Dispatch, Kaine mentioned that this legislation would allow voters to cast a ballot 45 days in advance up until the election at their local registrar's office. Kaine said:

"By allowing all voters to cast an absentee ballot in person, we can remove some of the practical barriers that prevent people from participating in the democratic process."

However, the most shocking aside to this legislation is the rise of vote fraud that could come with passage. There are 23 other states that allow voting absentee without an excuse. For example, Florida is a no-excuses absentee ballot state that produced the overwhelming vote count in 2000, due to vote fraud. According to a AEI publication by Norman Ornstein, Florida has had a high rate of vote fraud since passage of no excuses absentee ballot voting.

"In Florida, long before the 2000 election, the history of absentee voting is larded with examples of stunning corruption: a mayoral election in Miami judicially overturned because of absentee-ballot fraud, for instance, as well as other local elections being suspended or changed."

Kaine's proposal is going to create many potential problems down the road, if enacted. Maybe, Kaine wants Virginia to become the next Florida with a rise of vote fraud, as it would make his tenure as DNC Chair more exciting.

Governor Kaine Reminisces about his times with Obama

During the 2008 campaign season, Governor Tim Kaine was frequently absent from his duties serving the Commonwealth of Virginia traveling all over the country to help his B.F.F. Barack Obama with his election. Ironically, on Christmas Eve, I was surprised to have a link to a Richmond Times-Dispatch online article in my inbox only to view a video about Kaine reminiscing about his times on the campaign trail and about how proud he was to have helped his good friend win election for change. It was enough to make me sick.

Although, he did not spend Virginia taxpayer dollars to jet-set around the country trying to shore up votes for Obama. He ignored the budget epidemic that Virginia was facing. In fact, Kaine was more concerned about the potential benefit to Virginia with Obama in charge.

Kaine's recent budget proposals will only address the surface of the problem that will no doubt result in higher taxes for Virginians, and you can guarantee that the Democrats in the General Assembly are gearing up for tax hikes left and right. Rest assured, we offer more common sense solutions when it comes to dealing with the current budget crisis.
