Bolognese To Run Against Marsden

Bolognese Declares Candidacy for 41st VA House Seat

Says strong voice needed in Richmond for Northern Virginia

SPRINGFIELD, VA (February 11, 2009) – Kerry Bolognese of West Springfield announced today his candidacy for the Virginia House of Delegates from the 41st district. “These are challenging times,” Bolognese said. “While Fairfax County is a great place to live, work, and do business, we are facing critical problems that could seriously affect our quality of life if we just look the other way.”

“Jobs are evaporating. Transportation woes in our area persist. Proposed cuts in education are threatening the quality of our public schools. Gang violence continues to endanger our neighborhoods. Now more than ever Northern Virginians needs a strong voice in Richmond. I believe I can provide the leadership necessary to address these issues confronting us,” Bolognese added.

Bolognese, a Republican, has lived in the Northern Virginia area for more than 30 years and understands the everyday concerns and issues that face the region. “I have a wife, three grown children and four grandkids. I feel passionate about our local community and want to work hard to make sure my grandkids have a bright future.”

Bolognese has worked for a public higher education association for the past 16 years and has also worked for 13 years on Capitol Hill, 9 of which included service on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, where he specialized in international organizations and international human rights issues.

Bolognese will articulate a broad platform with an emphasis on education, transportation, crime and fiscal responsibility.

“One of the most important things we can do to preserve the future prosperity of our region, our state, and our country is to ensure teachers have the resources they need for the classroom and that Virginia’s outstanding colleges and universities remain the crown jewels of academia” he said.

“We also need to keep more transportation dollars in Northern Virginia and stop sending them downstate as was the case in the so-called transportation bill that was passed a couple of years ago.”

Furthermore on crime, Bolognese added, “I am against early release for criminals just to save money, and our dedicated law enforcement officers must be equipped with what they need to get the gangs off the streets.”

Bolognese also stated, “I will work to restore fiscal responsibility in Richmond. Virginia cannot ask taxpayers for more money when the State government can’t seem able to manage what they already have. We don’t need higher taxes. We need policies that welcome business development, private investment and economic growth.”

Finally, Bolognese noted that he looks forward to walking the neighborhoods of the 41st district, which includes, Burke, and parts of Springfield, Fairfax and Fairfax Station, and getting to hear from as many people as possible. “I am truly interested in giving something back to our community,” Bolognese concluded.

He does not have three grown children, and he worked for Democrats in the past. Ask him about it.

Dave Marsden is a fake and a joke in Richmond. Powerful members and legislators remember when he was an inept legislative aide. Good luck Bolognese. Anyone but Marsden is good for our district!
